oh my God, the government in Holland has decided to come up with a logo, to represent all of their services. It is pretty anonymous and I do not understand how this can differentiate us from other countries. But maybe that is the entire reason behind it: they like to confirm what our future queen recently said. There is no Dutch identity. For those who do not know our future queen, she is from Argentina.
I wonder what the difference is with Luxembourg, Belgium, Flanders, Brabant, British, and many other countries in Europe. They all use lions a lot.
The better logos are those of Switzerland (white cross on red background) and Canada with a very recognizable logo. The branding of our country is quite silly, and looks more like a print on a lot of these vintage t-shirts that are on sale now in most shops.
Double Dutch
edit 2008/1/4: It was just made known that the exact same studio that designed this new logo for Holland, designed exactly the same logo for the Ministry of General Affairs that our prime minister leads, earlier on. It is just too disgusting and bland to even imagine how the lobbying and meetings around this “Design affair” were done. These people are up to no good. Sad but true our Mr Balkenende was part of the team. He is the one that is always asking the population to be more creative and entrepreneurial. Yeah right…. Check this link

Governements love to waste money Richard. For my entire life, we can always tell when the provincial govenrment changes because the provincial logo changes. All the letterhead, cards, envelopes, sgns, pamphlets……
Personally, a windmill or wooden clogs, or a wheel of cheese say “Holland” to me!
