Together with Dana, my marketing colleague, I am waiting now at Las Vegas airport to go back to San Francisco. We have spent four days here at the NFDA funeral convention. The days were filled with caskets, embalmers, urns, hearses and other death service providers. It was quite a contrast with the environment of gamblers and hotels and fake symbols that should give a cosmopolitan feel to this hub in the desert.
The show went pretty well. The information we gathered and the people we met have given us a much better idea of the industry. We have a lot of leads and new contacts and friends that we will be working with in the near future.
Las Vegas itself though is really something sad. It feels like you are on a different planet. And I got for the first time in my life the idea, that if I would live here for a month, I would need to take pills to get over my depression. It is Disneyworld gone really really bad.
